Key to original accession number system

An asterisk (*) marks a book known to be of special merit. However, other books of equal or greater merit may not be marked with an asterisk. The 1993 edition placed citations marked with an asterisk at the beginning of each topical listing. THE WEB EDITION will alphabetize them within the topical listing (not complete.)

The five digit accession number locates the citation in the collection (discontinued). For example, "40007" is the seventh consecutive original, annotated citation in Chapter 4. Notice there may be cross referenced citations between original citations. So it may be necessary to skip through citations to find a successive citation number within its chapter. Cross referenced citations are always within brackets "[40007]" (incomplete.) Therefore, if a cross referenced citation gives only the author and short title, then, in some cases, a full citation may be found in chapter where the original citation is located. Notice that accession numbers were also used in the print edition of the Index of Authors and Titles.

Some of the original accession numbers remain in the THE WEB EDITION, but frequent additions and alterations make it impossible to assign new accession numbers.

Browsing and single-site searches

The "Combined Interactive Contents for The Web Edition of Biblical Counsel: Resources for Renewal" is now found on the homepage and may be used to browse the database. Each topical listing of annotated bibliography has a unique link.

The Windows "Find" command may be used to find any word or phrase on a web pages. If you are not using Windows, then check the help features of both the browser and the operating system for instructions.

The advanced search feature of Google.com may be used to search just one domain. THE WEB EDITION OF BIBLICAL COUNSEL: RESOURCES FOR RENEWAL is located in five separate domains:

Single-site searches with Google using general search terms may yield to many hits because of the extensive cross referencing in this database. In that case browse the "Combined Interactive Contents for The Web Edition of Biblical Counsel: Resources for Renewal." Because THE WEB EDITION is constantly changing the published indexes (see links below to indexes of authors and titles, scripture, and subjects) are obsolete but, nonetheless, can be helpful.

Google.com allows the user to narrow a search to PDF files only by adding the phrase "inurl:pdf." For example, if "Christian classic inurl:pdf" is searched, then Google.com will provided links to only PDF files of Christian classics.

Indexing

The "sa" (See also) entries from the Index of Subjects for the 1997 CD-ROM edition have been added to the "See also" entry at the end of topical listings (incomplete as of 8/2/07). And "See also" entries have been created for many of the new topical listings (incomplete).

Chapter 3 contains the topical listing, "Christian Classics Short Title Listing" that includes the approximately 270 citations to Christian classics in this database. They are identified in the annotation with the sentence "A Christian classic."

The print edition included indexes to authors and titles, scripture, and subjects. Because THE WEB EDITION is constantly changing, and because of the new single site search features of Google, the published indexes are obsolete. However, they may still be helpful in browsing.

See the Preface for further comments on the problem of indexing.

Author's names appearing in all caps indicates the title is available from Still Waters Revival Books.
